Doug is a beyond-awesome multi-multi-talented artist and a true inspiration to me of how to live one’s dreams of a collaborative and fully creative life. Thanks, dug!
Drexler: It’s never in the past for me. I know, I speak about Gene and Bob that way. Star Trek is still very, very much a part of me every day. It’s not like it’s ever over.
Enjoyed part 2 as much as part 1! The more I read, the more I feel that a large part of why Star Trek was so successful was because it had wonderful people working on it, like you!
I love the picture choice they used of your appearance in “Transfigurations.” Each time I see that episode, I can’t wait for that part. Each time I think, “There goes Doug!”
Thanks for sharing all these wonderful things with us!
Many fans dress up in costume and wish they were a Starship Captain or Admiral.
I wanna be Doug Drexler when I grow up! OK I’m 49 and have no intention of growing up, but I’ve loved the shows, the interviews plus the Making Of books and Encyclopedia. I’ve even tinkered with computer graphics. Since I began following this site I’d take Doug’s real life over that of any character. Now that I think of it I bet you’ve had more fun with this than the Great Bird himself.
Awesome title, Doug: “…the king of the starship cutaways.” Does that come with a crown? A scepter that looks like a warp core?
Great interview. You should sticky that on the site somehow. Doug Drexler 101.
That’s the stuff right there!
Like I said over there:
