That’s a schweet image. Though, I’m sure somebody on your end has already noticed this, I noticed that the faces on the back of the top side sections on the shuttle are separated. That’s usually a result of bad geometry and should be easy to fix, but I just thought I’d point it out. Otherwise, it’s da bomb. I love the scenery, especially the water and clouds.
Ok, I can often see these but all I am seeing is some smoothing (groups in max) not applied and some funk near the aft end of the nacelle strut. One of these days I gotta build one of those for my re-connie!

Here’s how much I love the SOTL calendars. Come January 1, I can’t ever let the previous year’s version go, so I stack them. The current year sits lower on my home office wall, near where I can see it from my chair. Last year’s is just above, and has no need to tell time, so I can flip it to any spread.
Given these calendars are the only published images of Star Trek Available these days and they are awesome works of art; I must confess I do something interesting with mine as well.
I wait until the end of each month then the next day, I flip the calendar page to reveal the new artwork of the month. So basically since I love the subject material of SOTL I will always get a treat the first day of the month to reveal another artist’s view of the Trek Universe.
Yes..I confess I try to dodge any future months pictures. Hard, silly, Pakled? Just love the work.
I think that the 2012 SOTL calendar should feature all the Starship Enterprise’s for the month of September to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of The Nesxt Generation & the 46th of Star Trek. That means the NX-01, NCC-1701{Prime & Alternate Universe versions}, & then NCC-1701-A thru E and J. How about about Star Trek/Tranformers crossover like thay did with Star Wars as toys but as a calendar instead first?
Another idea would be to do CGI versions of ships from the Star Trek:TAS such as the USS Bonaventure, USS Hurron & create a design for the unseen USS Ariel from “The Eye Of The Beholder”. As well the Orion ship from TAS.
Oh, can someone with better eyes confirm this: the shuttle says it is from the Farragut, with the NCC-1647/11 registry number on the shuttle’s side, however, it looks like the nacelle says NCC-1701/7. Why would the nacelle have a different registrry number on it, unless the Farragut shuttle needed a new nacelle and the only one available was to borrow one from one of the Enterprise’s Galileo shuttles?
Love it Doug!
Steve
That’s the McAuliffe again?
Cool!
She gets around!
I hope the name’s stuck around the shuttle complements of later editions of the Farragut!
so the next one is SOTL 2013? Damn, i actually want to buy this now!
The 2011 calendar is on the stand right now. The 2012 should be available August 2011.
What a beautiful landscape!
Mmmmmm, I smell TOS shuttle & Vuey. Nice!
peace & bananas & SOTL | deg
i hope you’re not SMOKING those bananas, Deg! They taste better grilled!
Now you’ve done it!
Now I’m wondering what bananas with a touch of hickory would taste like…
Gorgeous image, and great news about the calendar!
Awesome!! That reminds me that I still need to order the 2011 calendar! Can’t wait to see what everyone offers up for 2012! Love the picture!
Yep, I’m definitely looking forward to the 2012 SOTL calendar … Big Time!
That’s a rough?!

Hi Evil! Thanks! It was a non planer. Thanks for the advice!
No problem. I always run into that problem trying to build that part of the shuttle. It’s not a very CG-friendly part.

Great news and an amazing image
This is fantastic artistry. Just love the attention to detail in the background.

I’m ready to book my spring holiday on Drexler V!

That is AWESOME! looking forward to more!
I have my 2012 SOTL up in my office, but what does “Drake was right.” refer to?
Look up Frank Drake and the Drake Equation re. SETI
Ah, thanks!!!!!!!!
The “Drake was right” is evidently a reference to The Drake Equation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drake_equation) and the creator of the equation, Frank Drake.

yeah @ Bob Adamcik. What does it refer to? I was wondering same thing.
