I delivered the blueprints for the NX-01 fifth season refit to Pierre Drolet about two weeks ago, and Pierre has delivered back a heapin’ helpin’ of sexytime .
The NX-01 Enterprise finally gets her wings, and now looks like a full fledged starship. Legendary Mike Okuda is up next, and will be delivering a fitting fleet-style graphic treatment for the updated ship, and I’m considering including diagrams and tech. The NX-01 refit is ahead of schedule for it’s debut in the 2011 SOTL calendar. I’ve spent all weekend lining up shots, and baby it’s a whole new dynamic. Good times.

So you’re playing with the idea of using some kind of blueprints as an overlay on top of the background and the ship itself as the foremost layer?
Or more like peeling away the edge of a large poster and revealing the blueprint sheet underneath?
Hi Mike!No layers or gimmicks, just the diagram is was built from as part of a possible tech page. Sort of a fleet tech manual addendum.
As I’ve said before, very much looking forward to this. Diagrams and tech notes would be an amazing addition I’d love to see – I was always a sucker for that sort of thing, it’s the level of detail surrounding ship tech that first got me hooked on Trek.
Can’t wait!! I love her as she is, but seeing you put more of your spin on ‘er is excitin’!

I, like everyone else, am really looking forward the NX-01 Refit. I’m sure it will be a testament to what might have been had Paramount seen fit to allow ENT all seven seasons it deserved.

Dying to see this. I was about to use the Polar Lights 1:1000 model of the NX-01 to do a similar concept- now I think I will wait and model yours! Any hints on extra parts to scratch build?

I too await with baited breath Double ‘D’! I never succumbed to the initial controversy surrounding this ship though, from the very beginning I was truly fascinated to see how the torch would be passed to the earliest of TOS concepts. Though I’m curious, Doug. She still going to be the NX-01 or she’s going to become the NCC-01?
If we go by Beneath the Raptor’s Wing from the novels, that ship already exists. Possibly as a Daedalus?
Something for a future novel cover…or CGI comic image, maybe?
I am at the beginning of that book, do they upgrade the NX?
It’s ashame NCC-01 was already used, you think it would go hand-in-hand with the NX-01.
Someone should ask Martin to use the Enterprise-Refit for his next novel, since the Romulan war would be a great reason to upgrade her.
