Oh the horror !!! (I mean the original shot of the ship in the Enterprise :D ) Whoever rejected this ship should get a penalty of smelling someone else’s socks for a week (used socks of course !) Although I didn’t like this model as much as the new BoP and D5, it’s still better than stock footage … great shot as awlays Doug ! What’s coming up next ?

I’m really diggin’ this Klingon ship, definately derived from the D-7 just with more detail. Personally, I feel it looks age appropriate for the 22nd century.

Sweet! This is the unused Klingon ship from Enterprise “Unexpected”, right?

I always liked the line “Guess who’s coming to dinner.”

    Fantastic!

I loved seeing the D7 variant on Enterprise because it reminded me of the fluff from Starfleet Battles saying the Klingons would keep old spaceframes alive and just keep changing out innards, sometimes for centuries. This has been a hallmark of Trek since Jeffries drew the first one, great take on it here…

Where are its weapons? I see one , but the others?

I’ve in love with these pre-TOS Klingon ships. Why am I thinking that this looks similar to something we saw in the new ‘Trek movie during the Kobyashi Maru test?

Nice! Was that the John Eaves ship that got swapped for the K’t'inga because everyone ran out of time? If so, too bad time travel’s not real because that looks great. I *love* the Klingon ships from Enterprise. I must say that every time, but its true!

They supposedly didn’t use it because it didn’t have enough windows (sounds like an excuse to me.) Man, that’s beautiful. It’s still my favorite Klingon ship from Enterprise, even though it never appeared (sometimes when I’m watching “Unexpected” I like to squint when they show the K’t'inga and pretend it’s the D4.)

I’m pretending it’s the never seen D6. It shares a lot of similar design elements to both the D5 and the D7 ans I could easily imagine this as a transitional design between the two. Who else agrees with me?

Can we get all of the ships from the SOTL book cover? So we can put them all together like a puzzle.

This does look like the Klingon ships used in the Kobayashi Maru sequence from the new film. At least I think it does. If you blinked during that part of the film you missed them.

Doug, I think this entry should be labeled “Eye Candy 23.” #22 was the Connie a few entries down. Just thought you’d want to know.

    Sweet Klingony goodness.

I’ve seen a number of attempts to design a “D7 precursor” (FASA’s RPG, among others), but this number puts them all to shame. Just a magnificent blend of old and new elements.

So great to see it rendered :)

Here are John’s original sketches over on his blog:

Man, that’s just a perfect ship.

This a real beauty. I remember the first time I saw the sketches show up on the web and fell for this design. Just looks so darn mean.

That’s a nice Klingon ship. Follow Matt Jefferies lines and you can’t go wrong.

    I simply have no words…

Was this the original concept for the D5 Battlecruiser or was this intended to be an earlier design (D4 perhaps)? Great looking ship anyhow. Hmmm… might make a great D6, we never saw that one on screen and it definitely looks like it could be the immediate precursor to the D7.

So cool! Love how well it leads into Matt’s D-7 design. Has that “don’t want to meet in a dark corridor of space” look to it! :)

Who WAS the guy who passed on this design? Can somebody kick him?

    Hi Guys,

I had the great pleasure of building this model for Enterprise. But for reasons that where never clear, they decided to go with the older version of the Klindgon ship that was based on the STMP Klingon ship. Which Jose built.

This was one of my favorite models that I got to build. :)

Jez, I’d love to be flying around in this. Such a beauty.

I really love it. It has that D7 feel, more than the D5. Too bad someone couldn’t pull a Lucas and switched out the K’Tinga model for this badboy for the DVDs.

Love the subtle adaptation for use with ENT.

Yeah, thats an übr-bad-boy K-design via John, eh. And Koji did a great job of it.

I’m having a go at it presently. Can’t resist John’s lines on this gal, eh.
