Yea, it’s the friendly jellyfish aliens!! I really like those guys! That’s a beautiful beauty shot of ‘em. The glowing effect looks awesome!! Where is this image from; it doesn’t have the calendar markings on it.
It’s going into my files for the wallpaper rotation.
The joke in the art department was that their names were Joy & Gratitude.
I can still see Deanna’s (lovely name) beaming, shiny face as she feels the above mentioned emotions…gee, I didn’t know she was vibing on their names!
Dang! That pretty well blew my chance of making a “great joy and gratitude” joke!

Wow! That’s a blast from the past! I always loved the giant space-faring aliens like these guys and the Crystalline Entity. You think that these are related to the hyperspace jellyfish aliens that tried to have sex with the Excalibur in Crusade?

Has anybody written a novel yet in which the Space Jellyfish are revealed to be the ancient adversaries of the Great Crystaline Entity? Perhaps the Space Amoeba from “The Immunity Syndrome” is a baby Space Jellyfish? All dots must eventually end up connected in the Trek expanded universe!
Check the Titan novel “Orion’s Hounds” by Christopher L. Bennett. You’ll love what he came up with (or at least I did).

A wonderful recreation of a TNG scene from (shudder) 22 years ago. Almost a quarter century. Man, that is a sobering thought.
I vividly remember watching the premiere in college. We had a houseful of friends and classmates, all thrilled to see Trek on TV again. I liked the space jellyfish and it’s too bad we never saw them again.
Great angle on the Ent-D here. She looked particularly sleek in those low angle 3/4 shots. I’ve been sold on picking up the 2010 SOTL calendar for some time, and this image is just one more reason to do so.
I still think of TNG as “the new show”!

One thing. And I have opined about this on other sites before…
Do the ships always have to be blurred to give the impression of movement or speed? Why cant we just have nice crisp shots of the ships? We know they are fast….
But still, not a deal breaker… I have every single one since they started coming out and will continue to get them (since my wife knows that I will file for divorce if I dont get this for my wedding anniversary gift every September!) lol

I for one like the blurred ship. It really sells the image as a model shot from the show (you know, edited in 480i on video tape and all).
Plus, those space jellies rock. Doug, do you know if the guts are modeled in, or just texture maps?

Christopher Bennett, who stops by here on occasion, wrote a book in the Titan series, “Orion’s Hounds” that featured the the jellies. Great story that gave some interesting insights into them!

When looking at the image I could hear the swelling strings of the soundtrack for that scene. It was a beautiful piece of music that really made the emotions soar.
I appreciate the Orion’s Hounds recommendations, folks. And I like this image. I was always fascinated by the star-jellies (as I called them in the book), so I couldn’t resist the chance to revisit them. And yeah, I had Dennis McCarthy’s music from the “Farpoint” finale running through my head at times, inspiring the tone of some of the book’s scenes.
It was that long ago…
