What a sad ending! To have lived a life in that room for 46 years and then finally die once the story had been told.
Talk about a paradigm shift! Here I had been thinking that Jade had been up to no good only to find that he comes from a traumatic past. Makes me wonder if the Sawdust comic was his way of coping with seeing his father kill someone and then being sworn to secrecy.
Sad, yes. It does seem that it would have been all over without all the guilt if they had just told the story right away. Oh well, again, what fun would that be?
It does seem that Jade should have been able to get his father some decent clothes, though. He obviously cared very much for his father.
On a different note, I think it’s funny that they keep Sam in a number of the frames in his air car and talking on the wrist TV…almost to remind us that other things are going on; this isn’t the end. Or maybe he’s just developed a fetish for the things!
Will we get more fun Dick Tracy, Doug, or will you be changing to Steve Canyon? I’ll take either or both! Thanks so much for sharing, and it’s all new to me!
It still hasn’t been explained why Jade has four “cartoonists” drawing dots. That’s gotta be a scam. I figured their job was actually to take care of the old guy in the hidden room, but given how austere his existence was, I don’t see it taking four men to do that. Maybe they’re people who learned the secret, and Jade had to give them sinecure jobs to keep them quiet?
Tragic end to one of two storys
I’m still holding out for the Moon Gov will pull something again. He was too sneaky before to be legit now. Com’on Tracy!
