Tastes Like Bacon

targ_beauty

Everyone loves a good TLT sandwich.

We once had a Targ on Next Generation. They dressed a pig in a Targ suit. It turned the mighty Enterprise bridge into a true poop deck. For Enterprise, the Targ entered the 21st century before entering the 22nd, when Lightwave ace John Teska built a better pig out of ones and zeros. True, It doesn’t taste as good as a pig, but then it doesn’t make big potty on the flight deck either. That’s progress!

(Below) Teska’s Targs as they appeared in the Enterprise episode Sleeping Dogs.

The Klingons have an expression, “When targs fly!”

I suppose for those who like to explain away differences in appearance between shows it’s easy with the targs – just different breeds of the same animal.

Happy to help! I have an obsession for collecting trek reference photos! :D

I am sure the CGI targe were more sanitary than the pig in a suit.

Love the targs. BTW, was there ever a stuffed targ doll? I think there was one in Voyager.

Yeah, I always hated the pig “targ” on TNG (way back in the 1st season episode “Where No One Has Gone Before,” for those who don’t remember) but they did what they could with what they had. Wasn’t Kruge’s pet in ST3 also supposed to be a Targ or was that something else?

I love the episode “Sleeping Dogs” but what makes it really special for me is that great Raptor model and the Targ. They’re both excellent meshes and we finally had Targs done right. :)

Yikes! Wouldn’t want to meet one of these things in a dark alley. Suddently, I want a pulled pork sandwich… ;)

Did they bring that pig back for “Up The Long Ladder”?

I personally love a good TLT sandwich for a light dinner on a warm summer evening.

I love that they have the trademark Klingon ridges.

Evil_Genius_180 asked: “Wasn’t Kruge’s pet in ST3 also supposed to be a Targ or was that something else?”

Something else. The targ wasn’t invented until TNG. The STIII script described Kruge’s pet as “half timber wolf, half lizard.” It had no official name, but has been described by the movie’s FX supervisor Ken Ralston as a “monster dog.”

The fur must have been an evil thing to render. :) Or at least it is in Max, don’t know how intense it is in Lightwave.

Thanks for this, it’s nice to change it up a bit and see some organic designs!
Speaking of which, how much fun did you guys have with the CGI Gorn from “In a Mirror Darkly”? :D
