I just came across this concept sketch for Enterprise, and cannot remember what the heck it was! But I’m not worried, because I have the topest of the top experts to help! Experts assemble!

The arboreal xindi Kemocite facility from Enterprise’s Third season?
Yep, from “The shipment”.
What they said.
That didn’t take long! I remember that one of the arboreals, Sam Witwer, came up to the art department. He dug what we were up to! So Sam dropped up almost everyday that week and hung out. Appropriate for an arboreal!
Sam was totally covered in makeup. One of the ironic things about Hollywood. A super handsome guy like that get’s covered with blue fur and runbber. Sam however went on to play the character “Crashdown”, Boomer’s back seat, on BSG. Of late he has been a Jedi master in some of the Star Wars games, and a semi regular on Smallville.
For a second there it looked like the 23rd century’s Anheuser Busch plant. (smile!)
Here’s the facility in action:

Funny about Sam Witwer, even after that Xindi sloth makeup, you can still recognize him, must be the eyes.
BB – Have you been drinking?
Jörg – Your usual great job!
Naw, don’t drink, Sir! I’ve never seen that episode of ENTERPRISE as I dropped off somewhere in the second season (I’m ducking rocks for that one, I’m sure). Just trying on some humor!
Just funnin’ ya buddy!
Always to the rescue when there’s need for a screencap!
Damn. You kids beat me to it. I knew immediately what it was but the phone rang and the dryer stopped before I could post.
And I adore Sam Witwer. Excellent actor (and sounds like a really nice guy too). I have to agree about his distinctive eyes being immediately recognizable. There is also something about his mouth too. But even with his “Enterprise” and “BSG” credits, my favorite performance of his has to be from one of my favorite films from last year, “The Mist”. He knocks my socks off in that one.
You woulda had me stumped, but luckily there are the resident Drex Files Trek eps. experts amongst our ranks.
I do like Sam Witwer as Doomsday. Oh wow, I loved The Mist, but didn’t realize he was in it, thanks Bryant.

You are welcome! And I am surprised to see another Mist fan. I am not sure why more people didn’t love that movie but sadly we are few and far between. (It’s a B horror movie made by some really talented folks with a decent budget, lots of love and a message! What’s not to love.)
Is that a 45 RPM adapter in the upper left-hand corner? Maybe the Xindi were actually cranking out hit singles, not Kemocite.
Well, my wife and I and my mom all loved it Bryant. I like Frank Darabont and thought he did great job with it. I like Thomas Jane as well. Those spiders, and the ending, even though I saw it coming, I liked the brutal creepy-irony of it. King usually blows his endings for me, and while I didn’t read the book, I think my mom mentioned it as different. Darabont did a great job with the material IMO. Kubrick pulled his bacon outta the ending fire with his ending in The Shining as well. But hey, this is Kubrick we’re talkin’ about here, eh.
And now I recall Sam Witwer as he was the soldier from the base they were turning blame on, trapped in the super-market with everyone else, correct?. Yeah, I like him a lot as well.

Hey Doug, I know this may be a hard question to answer, because every model is different, but how long would it take you to make a model like this?
This is a couple of days. One day to work out a layout and design Herman likes, and then a day to do a quickie texture job, and light it.
The inclusion of the Xindi writing and logos is cool! Is there a story behind the two large circular signs with the logos? The red one in the background has appeared most often (also on the shoulder patches of the Xindi sloths) and kind of has been adopted as THE Xindi logo. The other one in the foreground appeared as stickers on consoles as well, but never as prominent as the red one.
Howdy Jörg! I don’t remember who designed the Xindi logos, perhaps Mike will. Could have been Anthony Fredrickson.
Thanks! It would be great if you could find out more about the Xindi logos.
