Ghost in the Machine

untitled1

“… I’ve got you, under my skin…”

In Enterprise episode “Vox Sola”, a lost alien life form hitches a ride IN the ship. That means I got to build a number of spooky “tween”deck spaces and Jefferies tubes for the wraith-like critter to traverse. How great to get to do classic horror lighting! Joy!

Being able to run down to set and grab snaps of different wall surfaces was indispensible. Once I had the geometry built, I could map those on to the polygonal surfaces of the model.

With geometry, texture, and lighting complete, I would do what I ordinarily do: graphic it up with signage and tape. If you look close you can see some of Mike’s cool Enterprise circuit boards.

I love how you have elements from the TNG-VOY Jefferies tubes. Doug, what is the material used around the blue light in the first photo. I have seen the stuff all over TNG,DS9 and VOY.

    Thanks

Joe, don’t recall what it’s nomenclature is. I believe it was an item used in industrial mold making. – Doug

Dead sexy, good sir. I especially enjoy the cool radiant blues of the energy conduits.

I have an unrelated archival search request for you that I thought of at work tonight, & I have a feeling you’ll get a kick out of it. There were a couple DS9 episodes wherein the Bajoran dish of hasperat was shown not only made but eaten. I’m curious if you, Mike, or Denise (or Dorth!) might have the recipe handy, or if not, if you’d be willing to hunt it down. I think it would be a fin treat & a neat story to hear about how it was concocted.

Hi Shik! Boris beat me to the recipe! I remember that I used to help Joe Long make the Hasperat while we kibitzed! – Doug

It was probably just a burrito, since I don’t think all the actors would appreciate the famous eye watering and tongue searing. Also, you’d need Bajoran ingredients.

    A burrito.. with graphic tape!

Yes, but was it a SPECIAL burrito? Who could resist the chance to cook up something?

That’s a perfect recipe. But needs more hot. Some Sri Racha & Goya picante added to the mix will makes things better.

Thanks doug, It’s crazy how many everyday items can be found on the show. :D

Very cool poly-pushin’ and mappin’ dude. And ah yes, the ever-present number 05.

    Who is Number 1?

    You are Number 6.

    I am not a number!

Thanks for the pics dude! Gettin’ to be time for me to go back and watch ENT again, and it will be all the better with yours and John’s back-stories, eh. Not only has it been some time for me to forget the episodes to view-anew (sorta) your guys’ sharings add a WHOLE new dimension of production insight enjoyment to it all for me. :D

Thanks a’mucho-grande for that eh! :)
