This is a very touching letter. It’s nice to read stuff like this. Star Trek has touched a lot of people in different ways.

    Thanks Doug for the post.

That is a very touching letter. BTW Doug, if you were the one who censored out the son’s name, there was one place you missed.

Actually, the name appears to be in quotation marks in the first sentence, so it was probably censored before sending.

    …yeah.

I’d want to hold onto that letter, too.

Awwwww, that sO touching. Trek really is inspiring, and comforting IMO. When I was going through some rough patches in my 20′s (nothing compared to this kid though, bless his heart), I would put on Trek and know that for at least that one hour, all was right in my world. Glad he had Trek as well. And glad he passed peacefully.

That was sweet/cool of his Mom to write too. I feel it’s important to share one’s thoughts and feelings about such things. To acknowledge the good that others bring into one’s life. It’s does no collective good to just assume they know you feel blessed by them. The true riches in life don’t cost a penny to spread around and share. :)

So thanks for sharin’ this as well, DD. ;)

    Hi, Doug…

I just came across this post. My weekend evenings and mornings are pretty much designated to scanning through this wonderful

This letter reminds me of the great guys that worked over at Star Trek. During my pitching days, I was (and still am) pretty involved in Boy Scouts. We had a young man in a local troop in Boston who was diagnosed with Childhood Leukemia. He was far enough along with his disease that he was placed on the Make a Wish list. His family did not expect him to live 4 months. His wish was to meet the folks at Star Trek or take a trip to Disney World with his family. He couldn’t decide. He finally settled on Disney World so he could spend 2 weeks having fun with his family before he was bed ridden.

Well, prayers were answered and this young man went into remission. He enjoyed his time at Disney but part of him was sorry about not meeting anyone from Star Trek. I happened to mention this to one of the PA’s (I believe it was Duffy – RHW’s assistant). A few days later I got a package in the mail stuffed full of autograph’s from DS9, VOY and some of the TNG actors. I feel very lucky to be part of a great group of people.

    Thanks for all the posts.

    Rob
